Our final day of the trip and, driving back to L.A. from Vegas, we complete our A to Z of songs with Zoom by the Fat Larry’s Band, then back to the start with Coast to Coast again. It’s been a great journey killer, telling each other why particular songs remind us of events past and guessing the artist for the more obscure ones.

Now everyone's at it!

Vegas has, of course, changed since our last visit 2½ years ago. You can’t believe how quickly they can throw up those mega-structures. The dry heat remains as well with yesterday topping 116°F. For us, though, the biggest change was the famous hotel buffet breakfast – now $20 each + tax - we passed it by.

Back to L.A. and a few hours to pass before the flight home. En-route we stopped off at “Peggy Sue’s Diner” themed in 50’s nostalgia for a good ole’ American milkshake.

Finally, one more coaster to add to the trip at Santa Monica Pier, then a good ole British pub with bangers and mash, cornish pasty, birds custard and, Ian's waited 3 weeks for it, CIDER!

We’re looking forward to a 10 hour flight this time because, after 7 years of saving our BA points, we’ve upgraded to a fully-flat bed in business class.

In summary then, the trip has been full of ups and downs. We knew this trip was going to be demanding but the months of planning paid off big time. Having done it once before we knew pretty much what to expect – its’ all swings and roundabouts at the end of the day. Would we do it again? You bet ya – if we win the lottery tonight we’re dumping all our dirty clothes, down to the mall to buy new and driving back to Florida (via Edmonton and Halifax in Canada of course!)
